About Job

We’re looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer with strong vanilla JavaScript skills and solid server-side development experience with Node.js and React.js. The ideal candidate is creative, tenacious, and thrives in large, legacy codebases, making thoughtful architectural decisions, while collaborating with designers and other creatives to design and refine features.

In addition to JavaScript, building APIs using Python - Flask framework, working experience with Postgres (AWS RDS) and ArcGIS SDK is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Product Development: Design, develop, and maintain the backend & Frontend architecture using Javascript tech stack.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership by setting coding standards, conducting code reviews, and mentoring other engineers.
Refactor and modernize large legacy codebases, improving maintainability and scalability.
Architecture & Design: Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance systems from scratch, ensuring the platform can handle rapid growth and complex business requirements.
Collaboration: Work closely with the product and business teams to define the product roadmap and translate it into effective technical solutions.
Performance Optimization: Identify bottlenecks, and optimize code, databases, and server configurations to ensure seamless performance under load.
DevOps & Automation: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage deployments, and monitor system health in a production environment.
Security Best Practices: Ensure that security best practices are embedded in the development process to safeguard the platform against potential threats.
Innovation: Stay updated with industry trends and bring forward ideas for new tools, technologies, and processes to improve the product and team performance.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of full-stack development experience, including at least 3 years in a fast-paced startup environment.
Expertise in Javascript and server-side code. Highly proficient with Node.js and React.js.
1+ years of technical leadership experience, including mentoring junior engineers and guiding the team in best practices.
Expertise in building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems.
Experience in building APIs using Python - Flask framework and databases (such as PostgreSQL), and server-side technologies is highly desirable.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
Experience with ArcGIS JavaScript API or similar geospatial technologies is highly desirable.
Familiarity with DevOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines and monitoring systems.
Knowledge of security best practices, performance optimization, and scalability strategies.
Experience with agile methodologies and familiarity with version control systems like Git.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with C-suite executives.

Bonus Points

Experience with Phoenix Framework and LiveView for building high-performance, interactive web applications.
Previous work in a startup or as part of a team that successfully launched a new product or service.
Contributions to open source projects or a strong portfolio of personal engineering projects.
Experience with US Government Tech
